Tax Deduction Notice


If you want to make a Tax Deductible (Concessional) Contribution to your SMSF you must complete an ATO Form called a "Deduction for Personal Super Contributions" Notice. The Document must be prepared and signed by the following due dates:

Where your Member Benefit is in Accumulation Mode

If your Member Benefit is in Accumulation Mode you must prepare and sign the Tax Deduction Notice before whichever of the following dates occurs first:

- the day you lodge your income tax return for the year the contributions were made, or
- the end of the income year after the income year in which you made the contributions.

Where you intend to commence a Pension after the Tax Deductible Contribution is made

If you intend to commence a Pension (either a Simple Pension or TRIS) after the Tax Deductible Contribution is made you must prepare and sign the Tax Deduction Notice before whichever of the following dates occurs first:

- the day you commence your Pension (either a Simple Pension or TRIS), or
- the day you lodge your income tax return for the year the contributions were made, or
- the end of the income year after the income year in which you made the contributions.
