To assist you in completing the Annual Checklist, we have provided some of our Frequently Asked Questions
In the 2018 Checklist, we will collect data from you as the first step of the Checklist under the new “Data
Collection” tab. The Data Collection step gathers data for your SMSF’s Banks, Term Deposits and Broker
Where you have used Banks, Term Deposits and Broker Accounts set up by ESUPERFUND, we will
in most cases
have all the data. Therefore, no additional data will be required from you. Accordingly, you can proceed
past the "Data Collection" tab to the other steps in the Checklist. The other steps require you to identify
the nature of the transactions and provide supporting documentation for audit purposes.
Where you have used Banks, Term Deposits and Broker Accounts NOT set up by ESUPERFUND,
additional data is
required from you under the "Data Collection" tab. Apart from that, you also need to provide statements
issued by the financial institutions to enable ESUPERFUND to verify the data. Once you have completed the
"Data Collection" tab, ESUPERFUND will review the information and notify you of the next step via Inbox.
ESUPERFUND can generally identify most transactions based on the data collected from you under the "Data
Collection" tab (e.g. cash transfers between SMSF bank accounts) and other information sourced from
reliable third parties (e.g. payments to the ATO).
However, to further assist you in coding a transaction, we have prepared a detailed description explaining
the meaning and use of each code. To read the instructions, simply hover your mouse over the transaction
To update a transaction code, you simply need to click on the transaction code currently shown under the
“Bank” tab of the Checklist to reselect from the dropdown list.
However, if our office is 100% confident about the nature of the transaction, the transaction code will be
locked. Examples of such transactions include:
When you proceed to the Upload Page, you may be requested for documentation based on the answers provided
in the previous steps of the Checklist.
For detailed information and samples (where applicable) of the required documentation, please refer to the
instructions provided on the pop-up window.
Withdrawal type has become a more complicated decision due to regulatory changes. We have recently released
a new page detailing the different rules that apply to Pension and Lump Sum withdrawals as well as how they
may affect your personal tax return, SMSF, and Centrelink entitlements.

We advise that we have reviewed and updated the pages on our website to reflect the important Super
thresholds, such as contribution caps, for the 2018-2019 Financial Year.
